The beluga that has been swimming in the French river Seine for several days has died. This happened during the transport of the animal to a lock, a few hours after it was rescued from the Seine. This is reported by the local government.
The beluga had been in a lock in the French river Seine for several days and was removed from the water in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday after a six-hour rescue. But the rescue was not complete: in the next phase, the animal would be transferred by refrigerated truck to the lock at Ouistreham, where it would be released back into the sea after three days.
Unfortunately, it didn’t get that far: the white dolphin died during that transport.
