The Democratic Party: 10-6 for the centre-left, a signal to the government that the alternative exists
“The result of the local elections confirms the strength and rooting of the centre-left in Italian cities. With the first round, in the capitals the final result is 10 to 6 for the centre-left”. This was stated in a note by Chiara Braga and Francesco Boccia, group leaders of the Democratic Party in the Chamber and the Senate, and Nicola Zingaretti, head of the Democratic Party delegation in the European Parliament, commenting on the municipal elections which ended today with the run-offs. “This is a significant fact that rewards the work of local administrators and the credibility of projects built around the concrete needs of communities. In a complex phase for the country, with a government that denies the evidence, citizens continue to recognize in the center-left a serious, competent and close-to-people proposal. Where broad, united and credible coalitions are built, capable of putting public services, work, sustainability and social cohesion at the centre, we are competitive”, continue the Dem exponents. “It is an important indication for the future: the center-left represents a solid alternative to the right in government”, they conclude.
