Prosecutors dismissed part of the charges against the head of the Belgrade police

Prosecutors announced on Tuesday that they dismissed part of the criminal charges against the former Belgrade police chief for helping the perpetrator of the murder of an alleged mobster, in an affair that pointed to the ties of police officers to criminal clans. Veselin Mili, head of the Belgrade police and former adviser to President Aleksandar Vuci, was arrested on May 15 and has been in custody since then. He is suspected of several criminal offences, including covering up the murder in a Belgrade restaurant on May 12 and preventing the circumstances of the disappearance of Aleksandar Nešovica Baja, who was linked by the media to one of the mafia clans, to be clarified. After a few days, the police announced that the body of the murdered Nešovi had been found in a buried bave. The investigation into all the circumstances of that crime and the persons involved is still ongoing.
