Proposed on stage at the Latin star’s concert – and it ended terribly

A public marriage proposal can be exciting – or a shocking crash. Unfortunately, in this story it is the second option. Last week, the Argentinian singer Daniel Agostini performed in the capital city of Buenos Aires, and a young man who came to the concert had a creative and romantic idea: he would take advantage of the opportunity and Agostini’s passionate music to propose to his lover.

In a video released from that performance, the young man is seen on stage with his partner kneeling and pulling out a ring, in the best of tradition. But his wife does not look shocked and happy and full of excitement, but mostly frozen and suffering. The crowd cheers for the couple, but she stands in her place, swaying slightly, as if debating what to do. Finally she shook her head in the negative and got off the stage in front of the stunned audience, and eventually the young man got off the stage too. It’s not clear from the reports what happened to them, but we have a feeling it didn’t do their relationship any good.

Agostini is one of the most respected singers in the cumbia genre in Argentina, and is known both for his solo career and for being part of the group Grupo Sombros. As of writing these lines, he has not (yet) commented on the embarrassing incident.
