Trump calls the helicopter crash in Hormuz a “shootdown” and promises to “respond” to Iran’s “attack”

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, described this Tuesday as a “demolition” the accident of an Army helicopter that crashed near the Strait of Omuz and has promised to “respond” to the “attack” perpetrated by Iranian forces.

“I have just been informed by our Armed Forces that last night the Iranians shot down one of our high-tech Apache helicopters while patrolling the Strait of Hormuz. Two pilots were involved, both safe and sound. However, the United States must necessarily respond to this attack,” he said in a message posted on social networks.

The Republican magnate had previously reported that the pilots had been rescued safely, without giving more details about the causes of the incident. Naval and air divisions participated in the rescue efforts with the leadership of the Central Command of the Naval Forces and the 82nd Airborne Division.

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed that the AH-64 Apache helicopter crashed near the coast of Oman while patrolling the waters of the region, with the two soldiers on board “rescued safely in approximately two hours.”
