Panović told the weekly Ekspres that due to the internal and external political situation, Vučić “must go to the center” because, as he stated, that would be “a certain guarantee for the political stability of Serbia.”
“Vučić, that is, the SNS, cannot go to the left, but it cannot go too far to the right. That’s why I say that this Serbian bloc that Vučić is talking about, I would not interpret maliciously as an attempt to create Putin’s right-wing Russia in the Serbian way, but I would rather try to look for an attempt to strengthen the center, to get some more partners, they don’t have to be coalition partners, but who will give support in important matters,” said Panović.
He assessed that the opposition “should help Vučić” in the effort to reach a compromise on the issue of Kosovo.
“We can criticize Vučić for disrespecting certain state institutions, for the corruption that he partly inherited, but on the issue of Kosovo, I think he showed great flexibility and rationality. He never said, like some irresponsible right or quasi-left, that we will now leave tanks to the borders. I think that hardly any government, even technically guided, would do as much as his,” added Panović.
