Italian Foreign and International Cooperation Minister Luigi Di Mayo said today that visa liberalization for Kosovo must happen very soon.
“Italy is convinced that Kosovo will be in Europe and that visa liberalization will take place as soon as possible. We encourage Kosovo to make progress towards achieving results. Kosovo should not be afraid of dialogue but go further,” the Italian foreign minister said. a joint press conference with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of Kosovo, Donik Gerval Schwartz.
Italy is interested in helping economic growth and the fight against corruption in Kosovo, Di Mayo said.
“We proved that today by signing a bilateral agreement. We agreed with the minister to continue this path to strengthen cooperation between the two countries. The path of reforms that Kosovo should undertake and approach the EU,” he said.
Minister Gervala Schwartz said that the signing of the agreement for the abolition of double taxation will make economic cooperation less bureaucratic and will affect Italy’s direct foreign investments in Kosovo.
She said that the connection between the two countries is strong and that Italy is a friend of Kosovo.
“A few weeks ago, we held a joint military exercise in Kosovo. Our country is committed to EU and NATO membership. The relationship between Italy and us is very lively and very old. We had a great meeting in terms of atmosphere and results,” Gervala said.
During his visit to Kosovo, the Italian minister is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Kosovo Parliament Speaker Glaucus Konjufco.
During the day, he addressed the deputies of the Kosovo Parliament at the solemn session of the Assembly of Kosovo.
