A record amount of fireworks were bought in the Netherlands this year. According to the Interest Association Pyrotechniek Nederland, fireworks dealers have a turnover of 110 million euros.
The sales record so far was at the turn of the year in 2019-2020, when fireworks worth 77 million euros were set off in the Netherlands. The following two years there was a fireworks ban due to the corona pandemic.
According to a BPN spokesperson, 10 percent of the increased turnover is due to inflation and the higher price of fireworks. “The rest is really because a lot more has been sold. The enthusiasm for fireworks is very high this year.”
