In Great Britain the all.time record with 78,610 new cases

Absolute record of new Covid cases in Great Britain: in the last 24 hours they have been registered 78,610 infections, never so many since the start of the pandemic. The previous record was set on January 8 with 68,053 positives in one day. There were 165 deaths today.

British health authorities have warned of expecting more records of daily infections from Covid-19. There is a “sharp surge” in infections and these records “will be broken many times over the next few weeks”, said Chris Whitty, British medical office chef, at a press conference alongside Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Whitty explained that the Delta and Omicron variants of the corona virus are causing two “separate” outbreaks.

Cases of the Omicron variant of the novel coronavirus in some areas of the UK now “double in less than two days,” the premier said.

Johnson took the opportunity to re-launch the call to the population for the third dose of the vaccine.
