According to Nashville Police, Tennessee’s capital, 1,259 weapons were stolen from cars, out of 1,789 weapons stolen this year

In the last week alone, 49 weapons have been stolen. Most cars were parked outside nightclubs, apartment buildings and hotels.

In addition, 68 vehicles were stolen. 45 of them (66%) were considered “easy targets” because the key was in the vehicle or the thieves had access to it

Police are urging residents not to leave keys, valuables and weapons in cars, as many of the stolen weapons and cars are later used in violent crimes.
