the Omicron vaccine will be ready in March

In an interview with CNBC, Pfizer’s CEO, Albert Bourla, said that the new vaccine against Omicron “will be ready in March” and said he does not know if a fourth dose will be needed. “The hope is to achieve something that guarantees us better protection, in particular against contagion, because protection from hospitalization and severe symptoms is already reasonable, at this moment, with current vaccines, as long as the third dose is taken” Bourla explained.

Pfizer’s CEO explained that the new version of the vaccine also targets other variants in circulation, but did not specify whether the serum will be needed or how it will be used. Pfizer, Bourla said, will prepare some doses of the Omicron vaccine because there are governments that want it ready as soon as possible.
