French Foreign Ministry: Iran’s test of Khaibar missile is a violation of UN Security Council resolution

The French Foreign Ministry has expressed concern over Iran’s testing of a new ballistic missile, the Khaibar, with a range of up to 2,000 kilometers.

French Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Anne-Claire Legendre, speaking to reporters in Paris, said in this regard: “The ongoing escalation of Iran’s nuclear program is worrying.” She stressed that the launch of such a missile is a violation of the UN Security Council resolution that regulated the “nuclear deal” with Iran in 2015.

Tehran did not react to this statement by the French Foreign Ministry.

Recall that France, along with the United States, Great Britain, China and the Russian Federation, is one of the permanent members of the UN Security Council.

On May 25, the Iranian Ministry of Defense presented a new long-range ballistic missile Khaybar (Khoremshahr-4). It is claimed that it has a range of up to 2000 km (that is, it can reach the territory of Israel) and is equipped with a warhead weighing 1.5 tons. The Tasnim agency wrote that the Khaibar differs from other missiles of this class in its shorter length (about 13 meters), which was achieved due to the placement of the engine on the same level as the fuel tank. In this case, the length of the warhead is approximately 4 meters.

The Iranian military claims that enemy air defense systems will not be able to detect and intercept the Khaybar missile, since it uses intermediate targeting: after entering the atmosphere, the guidance systems are turned off, which makes electronic warfare against this missile impossible.
