A man from Texas saved his son from death on a rodeo – and everything was recorded on camera

The inconceivable moment has since surfaced on Twitter, where it has been viewed more than a million times and received hundreds of responses from surfers – some were moved by the father’s actions and others were actually “in favor of the angry” bull ”

“Father of the Year Ladies and Gentlemen”: A man from Texas has become a local hero, after his documentation protecting his son went viral on social media. The incident happened in the city of Balton last Saturday, where a bullfighting show took place.

In the video, which is less than 20 seconds long, you can see the moment when Cody Hawks entered the riding complex on the angry bull. Two seconds later, the beast had already knocked the rider off its back and it lost consciousness after its head hit the ground.

Cody’s father, Landis, noticed that his son was in trouble and hurried into the compound to help his son. Suddenly, he noticed the angry bull rushing back in their direction. Without thinking twice, he lay down on his son and absorbed the powerful blow of the beast before the other cowboys managed to take back control of the situation.

The video has since been viewed more than 1.1 million times, received over 14,000 likes and hundreds of comments – some of them surfers who were moved by Landis’ actions. “It’s amazing what parents would do for their children,” wrote one surfer. “They will do anything to protect them, including risking their lives. Hope the young guy is fine.” On the other hand, there were also surfers who claimed that they were “in favor of the bull” in this situation.

“People here are outraged that the father protected his son,” wrote another surfer. “Do you know what would have protected him best? If he had not let him enter the arena in the first place … what a dumb sport.” In response, another surfer responded: “People here do not understand that rodeo is in our blood. People blame the father for what happened to the son. Each of us chooses his own way of life – who are you to judge?”.

Cody’s family members have since responded to his health condition in a Facebook post and said he continues to recover from the incident. “He continues to rest, but is already walking on his own,” it read. “Landis has always been there for his kids and he’s the hero of us all.”
