Texas is considering withdrawing its investments in Unilever, the parent company of Ben & Jerry’s, following the ice cream company’s decision to stop selling its products in Judea and Samaria, US State Treasurer Glenn Hagar announced today (Thursday).

The accountant said he instructed his staff to determine whether Ben & Jerry’s or Unilever had taken any action that conflicts with the law in the state of Texas, which prohibits the government from investing its pension fund in any entity that boycotts Israel. The Texas pension fund totals over $ 100 million, according to Bloomberg, and Unilever is included in its investment portfolio.

Texas defines a “boycott of Israel” as a refusal to deal with it, to cease doing business with it or to otherwise take any action intended to punish, harm economically or restrict commercial relations specifically with Israel or with a person or entity doing business in Israel or Israeli-controlled territory “
