nuclear deal with Iran could be signed this week

The Wall Street Journal reports that the US and Iran are moving closer to an agreement to revive the 2015 nuclear deal. Officials from both countries emphasize that if the latest issues are promptly resolved, the agreement could be signed as early as this week.

The restoration of the 2015 deal would lift most international sanctions in exchange for strict but temporary restrictions on the development of Iran’s nuclear program.

Official Tehran consistently insisted not only on the lifting of sanctions, but also on guarantees that they would not be reintroduced. The Iranian leadership also opposes the introduction of control over the missile program of the Islamic Republic.
