A piece of cake from the wedding of Princess Diana and Prince Charles will be put up for auction 40 years after the event

A frozen piece of cake was preserved from one of the 23 cakes from the royal wedding on July 29, 1981.

The white cake with the coat of arms in gold, red, blue, and silver is made of a marzipan and filling base.

The cake was saved by a member of the royal family, Moira Smith, and her family sold the piece to a collector in 2008. The cake will be auctioned again on August 11. The redemption price is expected to reach 500 pounds (697 US dollars).
