Lavrov and Kuleba did not reach any agreement during the talks

“Meeting with zero result” can be described as the talks between Russian and Ukrainian Foreign Ministers Sergey Lavrov and Dmitry Kuleba in Antalya today. During these negotiations, which lasted for about an hour and a half, neither of the parties was able to achieve its main goal.

Ki hoped that Russia could declare a ceasefire in Ukraine as a result of this meeting, while Moscow continued to demand that the Ukrainian authorities accept the demands made by the Kremlin at the beginning of the war.

“In my impression, at this moment Russia is not able to establish a ceasefire, it is their wish that we surrender. They will not get it. Ukraine is strong, Ukraine is fighting, Ukraine has thwarted Russia’s initial plans. “We are ready to find a balanced diplomatic solution to end this war, but we will not give up,” he said.

According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, the Ukrainian side once again referred to the organization of a face-to-face meeting between Zelensky and Putin during today’s talks.

“Everyone is well aware that President Putin never refuses contacts, we just want those contacts not to be an end in themselves. They must fix the achievement of very specific agreements. Today we touched upon that topic and confirmed that the Russian President does not refuse from the meeting with Zelensky. I hope that one day the need for such a meeting may arise. For that, however, it is necessary to carry out preparatory work, which is unfolding within the framework of the ongoing negotiations in Belarus. “Three rounds of those talks have already taken place, our concrete proposals have been presented to the Ukrainian side, they have promised us that there will be clear answers,” Lavrov said.

The proposals or demands that the Russian Foreign Minister speaks of are three: the consolidation of Ukraine’s neutral status, demilitarization, the recognition of Crimea as an integral part of Russia, and the recognition of the independence of Donetsk and the self-proclaimed republics of Luhansk by Ki.

However, in a situation when the Ukrainian Foreign Minister describes the demands made by Moscow as a demand for capitulation, it can already be stated that today’s meeting of the ministers did not make any significant progress, neither in terms of strategic nor purely tactical, current issues. According to the Ukrainian side, these are two today: the establishment of at least a 24-hour ceasefire, the creation of humanitarian corridors from the besieged cities, first of all to evacuate the civilian population from Mariupol.

“The most tragic situation is now in the city of Mariupol on the shores of the Sea of Azov. The city is being hit by air strikes and shelling; I came here for humanitarian purposes, so that the meeting could end with the creation of a humanitarian corridor in Mariupol. Unfortunately, Minister Lavrov said that he could not take on the responsibility of creating a humanitarian corridor, but he would address the relevant officials on this topic. We also touched upon the issue of a 24-hour ceasefire, which will allow solving the most urgent humanitarian problems. “There was no progress here, because it seems that other people in Russia are making decisions on this issue,” Kuleba stated.

Today, the Russian Foreign Minister once again criticized the Western states, claiming that the main goal of the United States and its European allies was to “create an anti-Russia” in the person of Ukraine. According to Lavrov, the West had adopted a non-constructive way of working before the war, which has now turned into an obviously dangerous behavior.

“We see how dangerous our Western partners are, including the EU, which, contrary to its so-called principles, encourages the delivery of deadly weapons to Ukraine. We are talking about thousands of units of mobile anti-aircraft missile systems. “We ask our EU partners where those anti-aircraft systems will end up, there is no answer,” Lavrov said.

Let’s add that today’s talks were organized on the initiative of official Ankara, and Turkish Foreign Minister Mlut Cavusoglu was also present.

“I have already said before that Turkey participated in this meeting at the request of both sides. Today we assumed the role of mediator without revealing Turkey’s point of view. The meeting did not take place in an easy atmosphere, which was natural: the war, the military operations continue. At the same time, I can say that this was a very civilized meeting, the parties defended their approaches in a very civilized way, “the head of Turkish diplomacy stated.
