“Putin is not against direct negotiations with Zelensky”

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said Russian President Vladimir Putin has no objection to direct talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“They say that Zelensky is ready for such a meeting, and Putin is not opposed in principle. Putin also spoke about this to President Erdogan,” Cavusoglu said at a press conference in Antalya after a trilateral meeting of the foreign ministers of Ukraine, Russia and Turkey.

Cavusoglu noted that at the meeting between Ukrainian Foreign Ministers Dmitry Kuleba and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov “there was no breakthrough, but at least a start was made.”
