Switzerland expands sanctions against Russia to add more businessmen and oligarchs

The Government of Switzerland has extended this Wednesday the sanctions imposed against Russia for the invasion of Ukraine and has added more Russian businessmen, oligarchs and organizations.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Economy, Education and Research, the holder of the portfolio, Guy Parmelin, has approved the addition of more than 200 people and organizations to the list of sanctions, which is now the same as that of the European Union (EU ).

Specifically, 197 people are subject to financial and travel sanctions, while nine organizations are subject to financial measures. Consequently, the assets of “prominent” Russian businessmen and oligarchs have been frozen.

Several countries and organizations of the international community have approved in recent days a series of packages of financial sanctions against Russian entities and personalities in response to the current Russian invasion of Ukrainian territory.
