There is the first rate hike and it won’t be the last: the US takes the lead, will Europe follow and what will we notice?

On Wednesday, the system of US central banks, the Federal Reserve or Fed, raised its key interest rate – as expected – by a quarter of a percentage point. It is the first rate hike since the end of 2018, but there may be six more this year. A day later, the Bank of England also followed with a 0.25 percent increase. What does that mean? Will Europe follow and what will be the impact on our wallets?
