Report: The deputy commander of the Russian Navy was killed near Mariupol

Andrei Palin, the first deputy commander of the Russian Navy, was killed in the fighting near Mariupol.

The rank of first-class captain in the Russian Navy is equivalent to that of a retired colonel.

This was announced by the governor of Sastopol in the occupied Crimea Mikhail Razvozja and Senator Ekaterina Altaba.

Several high-ranking Russian officers have already been killed in the February 24 war between Russia and Ukraine.

The Ukrainian side claims that five Russian generals have been killed since the beginning of the war. Moscow does not comment on that statement.
