Bashar al – Assad held talks with the Iranian Foreign Minister

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, who arrived in Damascus on a visit, met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. According to the SANA agency, the talks discussed the expansion of cooperation between the two countries.

Particular attention was paid to countering Western sanctions and the joint fight against terrorism. The Minister told the Syrian leader about the progress of negotiations on returning to nuclear agreements and Iranian initiatives. Assad supported Tehran’s uncompromising position.

The discussion also touched upon the Russian invasion of Ukraine. According to the agency, the interlocutors supported the “Russian special operation” and blamed Western countries for the escalation of the conflict.

It should be noted that a few days ago, Assad paid a visit to Abu Dhabi and held talks with the leadership of the United Arab Emirates. At the same time, since the beginning of the civil war in Syria in 2011, the Syrian president has been only to Iran and Russia. Abdollahian expressed support for the visit.
