The Serbian member of the Presidency of BiH, Milorad Dodik, stated today that he could meet with Christian Scmidt, but not in the capacity of the High Representative of the international community in BiH, only if all parties from the Republika Srpska agree on that.
“If one day we decide to meet anywhere with a person named Schmidt, but not in the capacity of High Representative, my minimum condition was that we agree. If we do not agree, there will be no meetings,” Dodik said tonight. for Radio-Television RS (RTRS).
On Wednesday in Belgrade, after a meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Dodik said that he would meet with Christian Schmidt in Jahorina together with the leaders of the parliamentary parties from RS, although he did not consider him the High Representative.
He said that he would meet with him as a former MP and Minister of Agriculture of Germany.
Opposition parties, the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS), the Party of Democratic Progress (PDP) and the Democratic People’s Alliance (DNS), today denied Dodik’s announcement of a meeting with Schmidt, stressing that it was not Dodik who would decide whether to meet with Schmidt. these political parties will decide on their own.
Dodik reiterated to RTRS tonight that Schmidt was “a false High Representative and that he could only be interviewed as a former adviser, MP and federal minister, together with all politicians from Republika Srpska.”
He added that he did not want to decide anything on their behalf, nor did he decide anything.
“In that regard, I think that the unnecessary chase was made on the basis of one, at least poorly motivated media from Republika Srpska, which has the task of dismantling the joint action and that shows their mercenary role,” said Dodik, without specifying which media. .
A few days ago, all parliamentary political parties voted in the National Assembly for laws not to implement the decision of former High Representative Valentin Inzko to impose a law banning genocide denial, as well as a law providing for up to 15 years in prison for those who call RS “genocidal and aggressor creation.”
A decision was made not to allow Serbian representatives to participate in the work of joint institutions of BiH, primarily the Presidency, the Parliament and the Council of Ministers of BiH.
