The Egyptian Armed Forces launched an operation in the Sinai Peninsula to ensure the security and protection of infrastructure. The order to start it was given by President Abd al-Fattah al-Sisi.
As part of the operation, a curfew will be introduced in certain areas of the peninsula, and the resettlement of residents is also possible – in fact, deportation. Schools are being closed, certain areas will be declared a closed military zone. Certain means of communication are prohibited.
On October 24, 2014, President al-Sisi announced the lifting of the state of emergency in Egypt, which had been in effect for several years. According to him, the country has become an oasis of stability. However, the state of emergency remained in Sinai.
