The fire declared in the Greek region of Vilia has forced the evacuation of another five neighborhoods and a nearby nursing home on Tuesday, after three were evacuated on Monday after the fire broke out.
According to firefighters in Greece, the fire is advancing with three bulbs and burns thanks to a pine forest located on Mount Pateras. To suffocate it, a total of 14 helicopters and eight aircraft are operating, joined by two Russian aircraft with a capacity for 40 tons of water.
So far, weather conditions are favorable for the extinction of the fire, somewhat more controlled than during yesterday’s day, as weak winds are blowing, according to the Greek newspaper ‘Kathimerini’.
For their part, regarding the other fire declared on Monday in Greece, this time in Keratea, the Firefighters have specified that there are no active sources, although it has not been declared extinguished for the moment.
Greece has suffered hundreds of fires in the past two weeks, amid the most severe heat wave the country has experienced in decades that has left forests dry.
