A tanker with 750 tons of fuel sank off the coast of Tunisia
A tanker with 750 tons of fuel, which was leaving Egypt for Malta, sank today off the southeastern coast of Tunisia, the local authorities of Tunisia announced, stating that there were no oil leaks.“The ship sank this morning in the territorial waters of Tunisia. For now, there are no leaks,” the local prosecutor’s office said, adding that “the commission for disaster prevention will meet to decide what to do.”

The medium-sized tanker “Xelo” (Xelo), which sailed under the flag of Equatorial Guinea, was heading to Malta from the port of Damietta in Egypt.

The ship’s crew asked to enter the territorial waters of Tunisia on Friday due to bad weather.

Tunisian authorities have evacuated a crew of seven, including citizens of Georgia, Turkey and Azerbaijan.
