Vereschuk: ‘We failed to agree, there are no humanitarian corridors for evacuation of people’

Ukraine and Russia failed to agree on humanitarian convoys on Sunday to evacuate civilians from war-torn areas, Ukraine’s deputy prime minister said on Sunday. Irina Vereshchuk.

“We failed to agree … on a ceasefire on the evacuation routes. That is why, unfortunately, we are not opening humanitarian corridors today,” she said in a Telegram account.

Vereshchuk also said that Ukrainian authorities had requested humanitarian corridors to evacuate civilians and wounded Ukrainian soldiers from the besieged port of Mariupol.
