Bank of Indonesia keeps interest rate unchanged

The Indonesian Central Bank kept the interest rate at the lowest level of 3.5 percent, unchanged, according to the expectations of the 29 economists who participated in a poll conducted by Bloomberg News Agency.

The agency quoted Bank Governor Perry Wargio as saying that the central bank also lowered its forecast for global and domestic economic growth.

The bank lowered its forecast for global economic growth from 4.4 percent to 3.5 percent, as supply chain problems increase uncertainty in trade and global markets.

The bank also lowered its local economic growth forecasts from 4.7 percent and 5.5 percent to 4.5 percent and 5.3 percent.
