British court formally authorizes Assange’s extradition to US

Britain’s judiciary has formally approved the extradition of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to the US, where he faces life imprisonment for publishing classified documents related to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

A London court issued the extradition order, which, however, has to be approved by British Home Secretary Priti Patel. If she approves the extradition, Assange’s lawyers can still appeal to the Supreme Court.
