In China’s largest city, Shanghai, wire mesh fences are being erected around some residential buildings due to corona infections. Images of workers in white hazmat suits sealing apartment block entrances and blocking off entire blocks of streets with high green fences circulated on social media on Saturday, prompting questions and complaints from residents.
The Reuters news agency was unable to verify the authenticity of all the photos and videos. Shanghai reported 19,657 new infections on Saturday. The city has been in lockdown for more than three weeks.
