The new Afghan Taliban rulers, who took power in the country by force, condemned today’s attack near the airport in Kabul, stating that it was carried out in an area controlled by American soldiers.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said that the group of Islamic extremists “strongly condemns” the attack on civilians near the airport, reports the Associated Press.
Another Taliban spokesman, Suhail Shahen, stated that the group “pays great attention to the security and protection of the people”, reports the BBC.
The attack is believed to have been carried out by the Islamic State group, which is more radical than the Taliban.
According to Russian authorities, at least 13 people were killed and at least 15 were injured in the attack of two suicide bombers and armed men.
Data on the number of dead and wounded published by the world media vary considerably.
