Xi Jinping congratulated half a century on the introduction of the malaria drug – artemisinin

Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulated the international forum on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the drug for malaria artemisinin.

According to the Chinese Media Group, the Forum opened today in Beijing and the event also serves to encourage the building of a global health community for all.

He noted that artemisinin was the first special anti-malarial drug discovered and successfully extracted in China, and stated that it helped the country completely eliminate malaria in the 50 years since it was invented.

China has actively promoted the use of artemisinin around the world and thus saved millions of lives, especially in developing countries. China has thus made an important contribution to the prevention and treatment of malaria and the protection of human health, said the President of China.

He added that China is ready to work with the global community to strengthen cooperation in the field of public health, but also on joint responses to global threats and challenges, as well as on building a global health community for all.
