Iraq Sentences Widow of Islamic State Founder to Death

The Criminal Court of Baghdad’s al-Karkh district sentenced to death Isra Rajab Sakhr al-Qaisi, also known as Umm Hudayfa, the widow of the founder and first “caliph” of the terrorist group “Islamic State” Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

The woman was found guilty of collaborating with a terrorist group and forcibly holding Yazidi women enslaved in the Sinjar region. It should also be added that al-Baghdadi had several wives.

The Islamic State is one of the most radical Islamist groups. In 2014-2015, it established control over a significant part of Syria, establishing a regime of terror. The leader of ISIS was eliminated in 2019 by American commandos.

The question of women’s participation in the crimes of the “Islamic State” is controversial. Due to the ideology of the movement, they were excluded from public life. However, it is known that many of them abused captured slaves and also took part in the activities of the morality police.
