The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, estimated today that the decision on the “Jadar” project of the Rio Tinto company, which plans to exploit lithium near Loznica, will be made in a referendum, which will be organized either at the regional or national level.
Vučić stated that the decision on the project would be “made by the people”, and for the upcoming protest against the company, he estimated that it would be organized “in order to threaten him” and to insult him.
At today’s conference, after signing the contract on the construction of the Pozarevac-Golubac-Veliko Gradiste highway, he stated that the opposition is interested in the topic of Rio Tinto “not because they have started to care about the people, but because they are worried about their political positions “.
“Protests in Serbia are allowed, we have never punished those who gathered illegally (at the protest), unless they were violent. I did not bring Rio Tinto, but (representatives of the current opposition leaders) … It is up to them to think about what is better “, stated Vučić.
On the occasion of the upcoming Bled Strategic Forum, Vučić stated that he is the only leader from the region who will participate in the European, and not in the regional format.
“I expect meetings with (European Council President) Charles Michel, (EU Special Representative for Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue) Miroslav Lajcak, and I assume (European Commission President) Ursula von der Leyen. We have increased the degree of alignment with EU policies from 46 to 62. percent, and we want to see how they look at the future (European integration), “Vucic said.
Linglong should start trial production in November
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, said today that the Chinese car tire factory Linglong Tire (Tire) in Zrenjanin should start trial production in November.
Vučić also told the journalists in Belgrade that the production, “in March at the latest”, should start “completely”.
Asked about the beginning of production in that factory and the condition of Chinese workers, he said that it was important for him that 1,000 workers from Serbia get a job.
“Since when did you (H1 journalists) become interested in the situation in which Chinese workers do their job. It is important for me that Serbian workers get a job, a thousand of them, and we will try to check the condition of Chinese workers,” Vucic said.
He added that it is one of the fanrics that will “drastically strengthen” Zrenjanin and the surrounding places in Banat.
According to earlier announcements of investors, about 1,500 workers should work in the tire factory of the Shangdong Linglong company in Zrenjanin.
When signing the contract on the arrival of that company in Zrenjanin, in March 2019, it was announced that it was an investment of 800 million euros and that it was the largest greenfield investment that arrived in Serbia.
There was no discussion with the SPS about a joint presidential candidate
The President of Serbia and the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), Aleksandar Vučić, said today that there were no talks with the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) on a joint presidential candidate in the upcoming elections, and that he believes that talks will take place next week.
“I will talk to the representatives of the SPS, they told me some other information about their conversations with the representatives of certain embassies, some ambassadors were surprised and I said that everything was fine and that everything was normal,” he said.
Vučić mentioned that the best presidential candidate must be found.
“I have not heard of those ideas that we have one candidate, but I would not rule out that possibility. We just have to find the best candidate, who will oppose the tycoon coalition,” he said.
According to him, the tycoon coalition will have a lot of money and support from outside for the further collapse of Serbia.
“We will have to choose someone who can beat them and we will see who it will be,” he said.
Vučić also stated that he is ready to accept “different roles” in the upcoming elections.
“In any case, I am ready to accept different roles, if it was a question (of journalists), for me the most important thing is to continue the course of action and to guarantee a secure future for Serbia, and if I can help in any way, but “It doesn’t matter whether it will be one, two or three,” he said.
