Germany: 42 year old perpetrator turns himself in: mother of six stabbed to death on the street in Berlin – Pankow

A woman was killed on the street in Berlin-Pankow on Friday morning. According to a spokesman for the Berlin police, the woman was so badly injured by knife wounds around 10 a.m. that she died at the scene.

According to the information, emergency services searched for at least one suspect. According to witnesses, the perpetrator fled on a bicycle. The police homicide commission determined that a hundred officers searched the area around the crime scene with a drone.

Three hours after the crime, the 42-year-old, accompanied by employees, turned himself in to a nearby refugee shelter, where he is said to have lived temporarily. He was arrested. Residents of the refugee home are said to have seen blood on the man’s clothes.

The victim is said to be his wife, mother of six children. According to employees of the refugee accommodation, the man is said to have threatened his wife several times before. Victims and perpetrators come from Afghanistan.

The police are assuming a relationship crime. The 31-year-old is said to have lived in the refugee accommodation separately from the man who is said to be the father of their six children together. He fatally wounded her with multiple knife wounds.

The fatal attack happened around 10 a.m. Numerous police forces cordoned off the crime scene. The intersection of Mühlenstrasse and Maximilianstrasse in Pankow remained temporarily closed.

On behalf of the police, the BVG secured video material from the nearby Vinetastrasse underground station as well as from underground trains, trams and buses.

The statements of many eyewitnesses were recorded. Some of them had to be taken care of by rescue workers. The police offered them help through emergency chaplains.
