Armenia: The demonstrators will spend the night in the square of France, starting tomorrow – actions of disobedience

The opposition rally started in the center of Yerevan, France Square, on Sunday at around 4 p.m.

Groups from four symbolic places joined the march in Yerevan.

The second president of Armenia Robert Kocharyan also took part in the march with his family members.

The opening speech of the rally was made by the ARF deputy of the “Hayastan” faction of the National Assembly, vice-speaker of the parliament Ishkhan Saghatelyan, followed by the speeches of the leaders of the four groups that arrived in the capital.

Deputies of two opposition factions of the National Assembly also made speeches, including Arthur Vanetsyan, the leader of the “I have honor” faction, the former director of the National Security Service, who started a sit-in strike in Freedom Square two weeks ago.

Then Saghatelyan spoke again, announcing that they would stay in France Square at night, and at 8:30 in the morning, disobedience actions would begin.

The opposition assures that they will achieve the resignation of the authorities with great public pressure, and the decisive phase of their struggle will start on May 1.

This street struggle started after Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s speech on lowering the status bar of Artsakh. The oppositionists claim that the government intends to hand over Artsakh to Azerbaijan, and it is possible to overthrow it by removing Pashinyan from power by public pressure.
