Egyptian court extends detention of Israelis detained for brawl with hotel staff

A court in the Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh has extended the pretrial detention of two Arab citizens of Israel who took part in a fight with employees of a hotel in the border resort town of Taba until September 11.

Wael Karim, 34, and his cousin Mohammed, 22, both residents of Nazareth, are being held at Nueiba detention centre on suspicion of assaulting and damaging a hotel. They deny the charges.

The media reported that one of the injured hotel workers was taken by ambulance from Taba to the Sharm el-Sheikh hospital and did not survive the 200-kilometer journey. However, this information was later refuted.
