A male patient seriously injured when flash floods buried Lang Nu village in Lao Cai was transferred to Viet Duc Friendship Hospital with closed head, chest, and abdominal injuries.

When the landslide occurred, he was swept away by the flood. He was rescued by rescuers and taken to Bao Yen Hospital for first aid and then transferred to Viet Duc Hospital (Hanoi).

On September 11, a representative of Viet Duc Hospital said the patient was admitted with a traumatic brain injury, vascular damage, left popliteal vein, and a complex fracture of the upper third of both left tibia bones. Doctors are currently focusing on treating the patient.

He was one of the few residents of Lang Nu who were lucky enough to survive the flash flood on September 10. The village has a population of 760. As of 5:30 p.m. on September 11, authorities confirmed 26 deaths, 73 missing, and 17 injured. Of the injured, 5 were transferred to Lao Cai Provincial General Hospital for treatment; the patient above was transferred to Viet Duc Hospital for treatment.

Viet Duc Hospital also held an online emergency consultation for 3 other patients in Lang Nu village. Among them was a 7-year-old child with grade 1 liver rupture, adrenal gland injury, traumatic brain injury, and a fracture of the middle third of the left femur.

A female patient was buried under the rubble in Van Yen town, Yen Bai, in critical condition, lethargic, suffering from multiple trauma, cardiac arrest once, broken pelvis, broken bladder… Due to the flash flood, the locality was isolated in the sea of ​​water, transferring the patient to a provincial hospital was impossible.

Viet Duc Hospital continuously conducted online diagnosis simultaneously with Van Yen District Medical Center and Phu Tho General Hospital. On the morning of September 10, the patient was transferred to Phu Tho General Hospital, where experts from the three hospitals consulted and exchanged expertise to promptly provide a surgical plan for the patient via the telemedicine system.
