Totti "I have a cumbersome name, no calls from Rome"

“I hope the national team returns to high levels. Unfortunately, like all Italians and all athletes, I was hoping for something better from the Italian national team at the European Championships. Our players were not in good condition, physically or mentally. In such an important competition, if you are not mentally and physically ready, it is difficult to get to the end”. This is what Francesco Totti said to Sky Sport.

“That of the CT and that of the coach are two completely different professions. It’s one thing to see the players every day, it’s another to see them once a month. Spalletti understood and acknowledged his mistakes and reiterated them in his last interview. We hope that now he can start again in the best way and make the national team what we all hope for”, added Totti.

“I miss football a bit but I’m fine anyway. I have other jobs and other things to do. If I had to return to footballI would like an operational, demanding and important role. Sometimes, however, an important name, like mine, becomes cumbersome. From Rome lately no one has ever sought me out or called me”, said the historic captain of the Giallorossi club.

“Several teams have strengthened this year. Juve is the team that has tried to make the most important transfer market. Does Roma convince me? ‘Ni’. They tried to mix up a bit of everything, let’s see now if they were right or not. Now it’s up to De Rossi to put the players well on the pitch and find the best formulas. The answers will come from the pitch. We often and willingly speak with Daniele, he didn’t think he would start the championship like this but he has the head and the desire to do well”, continued Totti.

“Roma’s strategy on the market? Clear communication is needed: we must be objective”, concluded the former Giallorossi captain.
