UNRWA: Polio vaccination coverage for Gaza children reaches 90%

More than 446,000 children living in the central and southern parts of the Gaza Strip have received the first dose of the vaccine during an operation to vaccinate children under 10 against polio that began on September 1, the head of the UN Refugee Agency UNRWA said.

According to him, hundreds of thousands of children should receive the second dose of the vaccine by the end of the month. In total, he intends to vaccinate about 640 thousand children in the Gaza Strip.

The operation to vaccinate children in the northern Gaza Strip, where fighting continues, began on September 10. It is planned to vaccinate 200,000 children against polio.
