The Sims game series is being made into a movie

The Sims -game series is being made into a Hollywood movie.

First The Sims game was released in 2000. Since then, the games in the series are said to have sold almost 200 million copies.

The games create small virtual people, guide their everyday life, relationships and careers. Homes can be built and decorated. The characteristics and personalities of the characters can be developed and guided through different stages of life.

Game publisher Electronic Arts is making the film along with Amazon MGM Studios. A film is also being produced Margot Robbie company LuckyChap, which made last year’s hit Barbie. The matter was reported by, among others, the BBC.

The film is directed by Kate Herronwho has previously directed, among other things, episodes for TV series Loki, Sex Education and Doctor Who.

The Sims -game’s long and successful life cycle has often been discussed in Helsingin Sanomat over the years.

HS remembered already ten years ago, The Simsin with the release of the fourth part, classic moments of the series.

From The Sims argued Tanja Sihvonen told HS in 2009 about how the players use even the wacky possibilities offered by the game as tools for self-expression. Sihvonen is currently a professor of communication sciences at the University of Vaasa.

The Sims – there will be more information about the movie next year, when the game series turns 25 years old.
