Elite Chinese University Closes Its Campus in Israel

China’s UIBE (International University of Business and Economics), based in Beijing and one of China’s leading universities, has discontinued its study program in Israel, which opened four years ago.

The Israeli branch of UIBE has already graduated one class of students, and the second class will complete their studies in China.

Under the program, which cost NIS 34,000 per year, Israeli and Chinese students studied together for a first academic degree in management under the Chinese program.

The branch staff included six Chinese professors, two Chinese teachers and five Israeli PhDs. The branch was headed by former Israeli Ambassador to China Matan Vilnai.

The program has been recognized by the Israeli Council for Higher Education and has already received permission to build its own campus. According to Vilnai, the decision to close the branch was made by Beijing for political reasons due to worsening relations with Israel.
