European Parliament calls for lifting restrictions on kyiv attacking with Western weapons

The European Parliament has called on the 27 member states to lift restrictions on the Ukrainian government so that it can “legitimately” attack Russian territory with weapons supplied by Western countries.

In a resolution adopted by 425 votes in favour, 131 against and 63 abstentions, MEPs said that “if these measures are not lifted, Ukraine will not be able to fully exercise its right to self-defence and will remain exposed to attacks against its population and infrastructure.”

The European Parliament also stressed in a statement that “insufficient supplies of ammunition and restrictions on their use could undermine the efforts made to date”, and regretted the reduction in military aid to Ukraine by the countries of the community bloc.
