Roma fires De Rossi, Lazio fans rejoice and strike

The dismissal of Daniele De Rossi by Roma has sparked much discussion among the Giallorossi fans but has also sparked irony among the fans of their cousins from Lazio. The image of a Roma fan who, outside the Trigoria sports center after the decision on the coach, staged a solitary protest against the players and management has gone viral on the web. “There was a good one in Rome and you made him go away…Do this Lina…”, the words of the fan. A phrase that was immediately mocked by Lazio fans with murals appearing in the capital with the same words as the fan, complete with date.

But the web and social media were immediately filled with memes and images mocking Roma, like ‘Rocky Balboa shouting ‘Linaaa’ or the photo of Daniele De Rossi with the caption ‘you wanted to eat the panettone… you just had time to eat the pesto…’ with the clear irony of the draw conceded in the 96th minute against Genoa that condemned the Roman coach. Not even the iconic image in Testaccio of Mourinho on a Vespa with a Roma scarf, transformed with the face of Ivan Juric, was spared.

Also Federico Palmaroli, a big Lazio fan and well-known cartoonist author of “Le Frasi di Osho” who ironically posted on Instagram the phrase ‘Roma, Juric towards sacking’. The protagonist of the taunts was also Felipe Caicedo, former Lazio striker, who commented on X on the news of Ddr’s dismissal by writing “Er sord out”, a reference in Roman dialect to the sold-out crowd that accompanies the Giallorossi matches at the Stadio Olimpico.
