Windows app now available for iOS, macOS devices and web browsers

Microsoft has officially launched its app Windows for web browsers, and iOS, macOS and Android devices (in public preview), so that users can connect to the work environment of this operating system from iPhones, Mac computers and browsers, to make use of its multiple functions.

The tech company announced its Windows app at its Microsoft Ignite 2023 developer event, when it shared its goal of unifying all of its cloud PC services into a single app, as well as providing remote desktop access with Windows.

In this sense, the American company has been developing this application for the last year, which finally reached the preview phase for Windows, web, iOS and macOS, at the beginning of August.

Now, Microsoft has announced that The Windows app is now officially available for all major platforms, which includes macOS, iOS, iPadOS operating systems and web browsers, and has been released in public preview for Android.

As the company explained in a statement on its blog, This new unified application allows secure connection, from virtually any device, to the Windows work environment whether from Windows 365, Azure Virtual Desktop, Remote Desktop, Remote Desktop Services, Microsoft Dev Box, and more.

This way, users can connect to “the Windows experience they know” from any device, with productivity features such as customizable start screens, support for multiple monitors and USB redirection.

Along these lines, Microsoft has pointed out that the Windows application also offers advanced security features, including multi-factor authentication, with which the company guarantees “a solid connection” to work efficiently “from anywhere.”

All of this is offered through a “uniform” experience, meaning that it simplifies the process and allows you to manage and use Windows resources from a single, intuitive platform, according to Microsoft. However, it should be noted that, for the moment, the app is only available for business and school accounts.

Windows users can now download the app from the Microsoft Store. Apple users can now get it from the App Store for macOS, iOS, and iPadOS. As for the Android version, it has been released in public preview mode, so we will have to wait for the official version.
