Crocodiles player’s girlfriend speaks out after death

The American football player’s girlfriend Lucas Barros, from Coritiba Crocodiles spoke out after the athlete’s death. He was one of the three victims of the bus accident that was taking the team to Rio de Janeiro this Saturday (21).

Lucas, 20, was a champion of the Brazilian under-20 American football team and died in the accident, which also injured eight passengers. Players Lucas Padilha and Daniel Santos also died.

Lays Novakovski and Lucas announced their relationship in August. The young woman spoke out on Sunday morning (22) in a post on Instagram and said she had shown all her love for Lucas in life.

“I’m on a plane heading to Goiânia. In a normal scenario you would be here with me, we would be so happy and eager to see your family, but I’ve been in tears since morning, because a part of me is gone today. I had so little time with you, my love, what an unfair life,” wrote Lays Novakovski.

“You said you wanted to live with me until the end of our lives and we thought it would last much longer, all I wanted was for it to have lasted much longer. You are my soulmate, the person who knew how to make me happy, we knew how to be happy together, any moment with you was absurd, you were giant. I could say that I could have shown more if I knew you were leaving so soon, I could say that I would say more that I love you, but all the love that existed inside me, I gave to you, I showed everything I could, I lived every moment I could by your side.”

Lays continued the outburst and said that she was making plans with Lucas. The young player was considered one of the promising players in American football and had been at Coritiba for just a few months.

“So many dreams together, we talked about it every day, about how we wanted to live together until eternity, if we could. You always said that you would go after me, so that I wouldn’t suffer for you, you knew that I would suffer a lot, and you were right, this pain is tearing my heart apart.”

And he continued:

“A part, the most important part of me, left me today and I don’t know how to go on without you. This absence will be eternal in my heart, nothing will be able to fill it. You knew that I loved you, you always said that you felt loved, but I love you much more than you could imagine. We knew that nothing would separate us, only death. I always said that I was looking forward to living the rest of my life with you, and now I’m looking forward to meeting you again someday. I love you until the end of my life, Lucas”, concludes Lays.

Coritiba Crocodiles accident

The Coritiba Crocodiles bus overturned at km 226 in Serra das Araras, near the city of Piraí (RJ), on one of the most winding stretches of the Dutra highway. The cause of the accident is still unknown.

The team was traveling to Rio de Janeiro to face Flamengo Imperadores in the Brazilian American Football Championship. The game was canceled.

Coritiba Crocodiles is a three-time Brazilian champion and six-time Paraná champion of American football.
