Mourning for Jannik Sinner, his aunt Margith has died

Mourning for Jannik Sinner following the death of his aunt Margith, 56 years old (born August 6, 1968), sister of the mother of the world number one tennis player, Siglinde. The woman’s death dates back to Saturday. Margith, born Rauchegger, lived in Villabassa and the funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 24 at 2 pm in the center of Val Pusteria.

Jannik Sinner had dedicated his victory at the US Open, his second success in a Grand Slam tournament after the Australian Open, to his aunt, who had been ill for some time. The tennis player from Alto Adige was struck by mourning a few hours after arriving in China where, starting on Thursday 25th, he will be competing in the “China Open” in Beijing, where the German Alexander Zverev, the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz and the Russians Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev have also registered.

The world number 1 tennis player will then play in Shanghai. Aunt Margith is the sister of Jannik’s mother, Siglinde. The first lines of the long obituary written in German read, “I speak words to you that make you feel how important you were.” Jannik’s aunt was called Margith Sinner, born Rauchegger, but everyone called her ‘Meggi’. The obituary states that the funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 24, starting at 1:45 p.m. from the hospital church to the parish church of Villabassa for the farewell service.

It was specified that the function can be followed on the YouTube channel of the pastoral unit of Alta Pusteria. The obituary was signed by her husband Karl, ‘beloved son Rene”, her parents Josef and Maria, her sister Siglinde with Hanspeter, Jannik and her godson Mark with Lisa, her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, her goddaughter Anna, and her mother-in-law Emma. Thanks were then given to the health workers and to her best friends “Petra, Margit, Helga, Petra, Manu and Mariedl for their warm support”.
