Heavy rain postponed the Serie A match – the ball did not bounce in puddles

In Bergamo, it rained from the sky.

Severe heavy rain prevented a soccer match in the Italian Serie A on Monday. The players of Atalanta and Como showed up to practice in Bergamo, but the match’s referee and the captains of the teams found the conditions impossible.

The match was first postponed to half an hour later and finally moved to Tuesday evening. Playing became impossible when the ball did not bounce at all in the water puddles on the field.

“The match has been postponed due to the wetness of the field”, the league management confirmed the postponement of the match.

Como’s players would have been ready to play the match despite the harsh conditions, but the head referee considered the drenched pitch dangerous for the players.

Atalanta, who won the Europa League championship last season, has started the season fumbling. The team has two wins and two losses from the beginning of the Serie A season. It is only ninth in the league.

Como is at the bottom of the league with Cagliari.
