From Guzzi to La Scala costumes, the excellence of Como and Lecco on display at Mimit

Lake Como is the protagonist in Rome in an exhibition that celebrates the know-how of Larian companies. From today until October 11, Palazzo Piacentini, headquarters of the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy, hosts the exhibition ‘Made in Lago di Como: the fairs celebrate manufacturing excellence’, an initiative to promote the productions that characterize the provinces of Como and Lecco. The event was born from the agreement between the Associazione Esposizione e Fiere italiane (Aefi) and the Mimit, which has made the entrance hall of its headquarters available, transforming it into a showcase for the main Italian trade fair events.

The aim of the initiative is to underline the strategic role of fairs as a privileged showcase for the Italy of doing. The exhibition offers a summary of the main trade fair events that characterize the Larian territory, promoted by Villa Erba and Lario fiere. Visitors will be able to immerse themselves in an exhibition path organized in thematic areas, each of which will be dedicated to the most representative sectors of the economy of the two provinces.

Among the highlights that highlight the ability of Larian companies to combine artisan tradition and technological innovation: a selection of design objects from companies in the Brianza furniture district, two Moto Guzzis, a symbol of Lecco’s mechanical excellence, fine fabrics and stage costumes from the Teatro alla Scala made by Como companies, cutting-edge boat models and high-tech productions.

In addition to promoting the excellence of the territory, the event is intended as a platform for dialogue and discussion between the political, institutional and business worlds. Presentations, thematic insights and institutional meetings will be organized inside Palazzo Piacentini with the aim of creating new synergies and economic development opportunities for Larian companies. For the head of cabinet of the ministry, Federico Eichberg, Lake Como “recalls a wonderful place, with an iconic appearance. It enhances the territory and the ability to give life thanks to the intelligence of the hands”.

For Fabio Dadati, president of the Lariofiere Foundation and member of the Como-Lecco Chamber of Commerce Council, who spoke during the inauguration of the exhibition, “the Larian territory is very rich in industrial and artisan enterprise in various sectors that we are exhibiting here today. Mainly mechanics, in fact we see Moto Guzzi, but also fabrics, and we see the Taroni company that produces clothes for the big Hollywood films. Then there is the production of boats, electronics. It is a territory that gives great support to the national GDP. The two provinces have a little more than a million inhabitants but we do a lot, plus there is tourism. This year we gave up going to Venice for the film festival, this time we wanted to come here to the ministry. Being here to improve institutional relations is really important”.

According to Pietro Piccinetti, councilor of the Italian Exhibition and Trade Fair Association (Aefi), thanks to the agreement signed with Mimit to bring true Italian excellence to internationalization, our reality now constitutes a true industrial platform, we bring Made in Italy to the world and try to open new markets. We are second in Europe and fourth in the world in terms of square meters sold and business volume. We generate 25 billion in related activities, we are a power. We thank Mimit, Minister Urso and his chief of staff for having hosted us. Today it is very exciting to see inventive and produced products on display here, from boats to motorcycles. This is the true Made in Italy, which is sometimes better known abroad than in Italy”.
