No starting record for FC Barcelona

Coach Hansi Flick missed a club record with FC Barcelona. After seven wins in a row at the start of the league, the Catalans surprisingly lost 2:4 (0:2) at CA Osasuna. With another success, Barça would have equaled the club’s record from the 2013/14 season, when they achieved eight wins in a row under Argentine coach Gerardo Martino.

The man of the first half for Osasuna was Bryan Zaragoza, who was on loan from FC Bayern Munich. The 23-year-old prepared Ante Budimir’s opening goal in the 18th minute and made it 2-0 ten minutes later.

Flick’s change has no effect

After the serious injury to German national goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen, Iñaki Peña was again in the Barcelona goal, but was powerless to concede the goals. Barça is expected to sign long-time Polish national goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny (34) as Ter Stegen’s replacement at the beginning of next week.

In the second half the guests got a little stronger. Pau Victor scored the connecting goal (53′). The former national coach Flick now sent the regulars Lamine Yamal and Raphinha onto the field, whom he had initially rested. But the changes didn’t work. Budimir with a penalty kick (72′) and Joker Abel Bretones (85′) ensured the outsider’s victory. Yamal’s late goal (89′) was just a cosmetic result.
